Free trade normally increases a country's stock of resources while increased supplies of labor and capital from foreign investors become available for use within the country. In this context, trade liberalization is a key driver for further progress by being the mechanism that encourages further economic growth due to the economies of scale that the larger market permits. Being a manager vs. being a leader [+]

The interchangeable use of leadership and management often leads to confusion about these two concepts. Leadership is not management. A leader creates what a manager should control. A leader visualizes what a manager should put into practice. A leader inspires the people that a manager should keep in line. A leader takes the risks that a manager should implement. Management is not leadership. A manager performs the duties that a leader crafts. A manager copes with the complexity that a leader sets as organizational direction. A manager aims to sustain a competitive advantage for the organization and to promote stability, while being rule-oriented to the leader's imagination. Join discussion...

Music is a reflection of social status. It never creates new mindsets. Instead, it echoes the reality of an era. Music cannot at any point - create violence. Instead, it expresses politically conscious views with its unique way of mapping the perplexity of the existing political landscape and forcing it to make sense. It makes no difference if it is about hip hop, punk or rock & roll. What it matters is if the political landscape respects all its members regardless of race, religion and political beliefs. A brief history of punk music [+]

Punk music emerged as a social and cultural phenomenon in the mid 70s. Reflecting the despair of an aggressively modern, young audience with a common anti-establishment mentality, punk expressed political views, opposition and controversy as a response to the sentimentality of flower-power rock of the early 70s. Promoting subversive ground-breaking sounds with minimal instrumentation, anchored by explosive guitar riffs, military drum tempo and anarchic lyrics, punk groups quickly became a massive cultural fact. Young people found a way to express themselves through the Do It Yourself (DIY) attitude reflected in distinctive clothing, hairstyle and artwork to convey a new radical ethos generated from punk groups. It feels like yesterday that anti-gay lobbies burst out to the streets to hold a torch-lit demonstration protesting against homosexuality. And it feels like yesterday that religion created homophobia; because it certainly did. It all started with the Biblical bans. Then, it continued with the radical views of Christian anti-gay groups. And it went even further. The question, however, remains: Should religion have a say in the public conduct of people? The answer is obviously not. Join discussion...

Doves seem more confident and faithful to their music instincts in The Last Broadcast. Possessing a consistent quality, Doves create a Manchester-influenced album offering honesty and affection, outright triumphant, intuitive and heartfelt. An absolutely amazing album. Join discussion...

In the splendid world of alternative scene some albums are considered legendary. Their fame is spread from mouth in mouth and from generation to generation and their value is indisputably unsusceptible to criticism by being dogmatically perfect and almost hedonically influential. Unfortunately, those albums are not so many anymore and as time goes by, with the swift transmission of music over the internet and the commercialization of music from the record labels, magic is getting lost. On the other hand, fortunately enough, the inherent need to identify with idols and to integrate in a form of art, which worships the mystic adoration of the dark and the sad, the apotheosis of loneliness and the flirtation with the death in a fascinatingly enchanting world, has produced "Pornography", the fourth album of The Cure, which is considered by the fans of the group as their absolute masterpiece. “Bright Yellow Bright Orange" is not considered the most popular album of The Go-Betweens, very probably because the hard core of the group's fans prefers their classic hits of the 80s or the "Friends of Rachel Worth", which was released in 2000 as the first fruit of the group's reunification after over a decade of solo careers. In this light, the evaluation of "Bright Yellow Bright Orange" may not be absolutely objective, but this does not alter the fact that this album is one of the best albums of The Go Betweens. The attractive mixture of electronica, krautrock, post punk and trip hop anchored by dark, lethal lyrics that wander in a gratifying masterwork makes Portishead's third album "Third" the best album of 2008. After a decade in the wilds, except from a few scattered contributions and the solo album of Beth Gibbons, the trip hop veterans recall elements of their own sound of the 90s anticipating the mystique surrounding their prolonged absence and offering one of the best albums in the history of music.
