Richard Branson has an idea. His Virgin companies have put into practice a job-sharing scheme that prevented layoffs (and created 150 new jobs) in mid-recession. The idea is simple. Employees may choose to work for nine months a year, kids just coming out of school automatically stay on a nine-month work-year, which replicates their school-year rhythm and makes room for other young people to be hired.

Put an electronic score board similar to the one you can see in sport events that shows the statistics of poverty, unemployment and crime rates in a town/city/country.

Social innovation: Gun insurance as an alternative to registration

Firearms are involved in a lot of accidents and are dangerous tools.
To solve the problem gun ownership (if legal at all) should only come with an insurance fee just like the one for cars. Insurance companies set the fee accoring to the costs they cause.
The money from this insurance could be used to fund police forces or provide compensation for the families of gun victims.
