Turning off indexing on your hard drives is another very simple way to boost your computer’s performance. This option is automatically set by Windows XP, but it is very useless. I think we have all had the experience of using Windows Search (not to be confused with Windows Live Search) to try and find a file and having to wait 10 minutes while watching that stupid dog sniff around the screen!

Wow! Here’s a neat little application called FlashFolder that I found on FreewareGenius that makes browsing through folders in Windows so much easier. I don’t understand how these types of applications don’t make it onto the wish list of features for updates to Windows XP, it’s just a perfect addition.

Everyone has lots of birthdays to remember and if you have tried to write them down or record them in your paper calendar, only to forget to look at your calendar or PDA, then BirthdayTime might be the site for you. It’s goal is very simple and there’s really not much to do on the site once you set it up, but that’s the beauty of it.

Wow, I looked up directions yesterday to go to Harrah’s Casino in New Orleans for a comedy show and I was annoyed because Google Maps kept telling me this long and drawn out way through bad neighborhoods that just didn’t make any sense! Yes, it was the fastest route out of them all, but I would have also liked to have lived through the drive for crying out loud!
