SomaliNet News: Somalia: Former warlords to be named for ministerial posts : SomaliNet > Somali > So

I get the feeling that Somali "Warlords" are in fact the traditional leaders, men committed to Somalia, who lead Somali families and clans. In the absence of a central government these men emerge as armed, unelected leaders. Militia perhaps? These leaders are now being recognized by the government. I think it may be a good thing. Somalia: Mogadishu schools reopen following the violence
26 / 1

It looks like things are creeping back to normal after the latest face off with the Islamic insurgents. My impression of Shabelle.net - leans towards the Islamists, away from democracy. They could use a better English editor too. Join discussion...

Somalia: PM says most fighting ended, many hostile areas overrun
19 / 2
http://www.somalinet.com/news/world/Somalia/9906
It sounds like Somalia has managed to get through another attack by insurgents linked to the Council of Islamic Courts. The PM sounds like he intends to take the battle to the insurgents and to destroy them as a force. The Somali government is still getting support from Ethiopian troops. Join discussion...

The "two depraved misfits of crushing stupidity (to judge from their diaries)" mentioned half-way down the article carried out their plan not far from my town. Didn't go down well around here. Join discussion...

The Film Obsession: Celebrating Islamo-Fascism Awareness Day
26 / 0
http://www.frontpagemag.com/Articles/ReadArticle.asp?ID=2795...
"Like other students who overcame campus opposition to show the film, however, he was pleased with the results. Obsession, he said, “showed us a point of view we’re not used to seeing: That there is a group of people -- radical Islamists -- who are unwilling to compromise, but that there are also moderate Muslims, and together with them we can march against the radicals and silence their voice.” And that, as Michael Abdurakhmanov will tell you, is all he wanted to achieve in the first place Join discussion...
