If those guys could only admit that they're capitalists ... I guess it's their own scam. "We're the only ice cream socialists should buy because we're socialist businessmen - and we're green, sort of. At least we make a lot of noise about green causes". Given that the US is about 50% socialist, that's a lot of ice cream customers.

I actually taught math, grades 8 to 12?, over the course of 10 years in Somalia, Ireland and Columbus Ohio. I had a BS in Math and really enjoyed the math part. I concluded that even though I enjoyed math and the teaching part of teaching, I wasn't enjoying the students the way a genuine teacher must. I ended up programming computers. A sad but common tale. A genuine teacher with even reasonable skills works, I think, but genuine teachers may be relatively rare. Good article.

I always loved Calvin and Hobbs - what a great kid! All that energy, emotion, imagination. I wonder what career Calvin would end up in as an adult.

I like the thought that hyperdimentsional bee-eaters could have emerged from the sunspot, phasing the bees out of existence on contact. OK - the author concedes this would be unlikely.

A couple of good Somali News links:
http://somalinet.com/ And a good summary of the Somali/Ethiopian campaign against the Islamist Courts Union: http://billroggio.com/archives/2007/01/the_rise_fall_of_som.php So, surprise, surprise, the Islamists haven't given up. At least they got a setback. But now their best friends, the UN, are involved and Ethiopia would like to be done. Sound familiar?

Proof by selective anecdote is not proof at all. The globe has been warming since the last ice age. Sea levels were MUCH lower when ice sheets covered much of North America, Europe and Russia. A melting iceberg does not raise the level of the ocean - it displaces its mass. These are scientifically proven statements. "Man has caused global warming" is an unproven theory embraced by the naive and by power seeking political movements.
