If you’ve ever used Virtual PC to test out new software or browse scary internet sites or do anything that you didn’t want to affect your personal PC, then you’ll be glad to hear that Windows Vista will now allow you to install a virtual copy of the operating system on the same computer using the same product key! No more having to go out and get another copy of XP, which was quite an expensive task for most people and that’s why mostly only corporations ever used Virtual PC’s.

Another feature that everyone has been dying for, but has not really come to fruition on most people’s computers because of various reasons is the ability to have a desktop that is animated rather than simply a static picture! There are applications that have been written that allow you to put animations on your desktop, but nothing really works that great and since it’s not built into Windows, the software usually has it’s quirks that make it hard to implement easily.

I just read a post off iStartedSomething which enlightened me to the fact that Vista has some pretty cool little upgrades that’s going to make it a lot more fun to work with. For instance, take Windows Mobility Center. It’s job is nothing more than combining a few of the most used settings for a mobile laptop and making it very easy to change those settings.

DirectX 10, not just for Vista?

Microsoft has been talking about DirectX 10 being an integral part of Vista, saying that DirectX 10 could not be implemented onto any other operating systems. But someone has been working on getting it to run on Windows XP, Linux and Mac OS !
