Installing VirtualBox 3.0 On A Fedora 11 Desktop
29 / 2
http://www.howtoforge.com/installing-virtualbox-3.0-on-a-fed...
This tutorial shows how you can install Sun VirtualBox 3.0 (released on June 30, 2009) on a Fedora 11 desktop. With VirtualBox you can create and run guest operating systems ("virtual machines") such as Linux and Windows under a host operating system. There are two ways of installing VirtualBox: from precompiled binaries that are available for some distributions and come under the PUEL license, and from the sources that are released under the GPL. This article will show how to set up VirtualBox 3.0 from the precompiled binaries. Join discussion...

VBoxHeadless - Running Virtual Machines With VirtualBox 3.0 On A Headless Ubuntu 9.04 Server
26 / 5
http://www.howtoforge.com/vboxheadless-running-virtual-machi...
This guide explains how you can run virtual machines with Sun VirtualBox 3.0 (released on June 30, 2009) on a headless Ubuntu 9.04 server. Normally you use the VirtualBox GUI to manage your virtual machines, but a server does not have a desktop environment. Fortunately, VirtualBox comes with a tool called VBoxHeadless that allows you to connect to the virtual machines over a remote desktop connection, so there's no need for the VirtualBox GUI. Virtualization With XenServer 5.5.0
28 / 1
http://www.howtoforge.com/virtualization-with-xenserver-5.5....
This Howto covers the installation of XenServer 5.5.0 and the creation of virtual machines with the XenCenter administrator console. XenServer is a free virtualization platform from Citrix, the company behind the well known Xen virtualization engine. XenServer makes it easy to create, run and manage Xen virtual machines with the XenCenter administrator console. The XenServer installation CD contains a full Linux distribution which is customized to run XenServer. Join discussion...

Virtualization With KVM On A Fedora 11 Server
26 / 3
http://www.howtoforge.com/virtualization-with-kvm-on-a-fedor...
This guide explains how you can install and use KVM for creating and running virtual machines on a Fedora 11 server. I will show how to create image-based virtual machines and also virtual machines that use a logical volume (LVM). KVM is short for Kernel-based Virtual Machine and makes use of hardware virtualization, i.e., you need a CPU that supports hardware virtualization, e.g. Intel VT or AMD-V. Join discussion...

Paravirtualization With Xen On CentOS 5.3 (x86_64)
24 / 6
http://www.howtoforge.com/paravirtualization-with-xen-on-cen...
This tutorial provides step-by-step instructions on how to install Xen (version 3.0.3) on a CentOS 5.3 (x86_64) system. Xen lets you create guest operating systems (*nix operating systems like Linux and FreeBSD), so called "virtual machines" or domUs, under a host operating system (dom0). Using Xen you can separate your applications into different virtual machines that are totally independent from each other (e.g. a virtual machine for a mail server, a virtual machine for a high-traffic web site, another virtual machine that serves your customers' web sites, a virtual machine for DNS, etc.), but still use the same hardware. This saves money, and what is even more important, it's more secure. If the virtual machine of your DNS server gets hacked, it has no effect on your other virtual machines. Plus, you can move virtual machines from one Xen server to the next one. Join discussion...

Creating A Fully Encrypted Para-Virtualised Xen Guest System Using Debian Lenny
23 / 6
http://www.howtoforge.com/creating-a-fully-encrypted-para-vi...
This document explains how to set up a fully encrypted para-virtualized XEN instance. In this howto, the host system is running Debian Etch, while the guest system to be installed will be using Debian Lenny. If you are concerned about your privacy, you might want to consider using hard disk encryption to protect your valuable private data from spying eyes. Usually, the easiest way would be to use your distribution's installer to set up a fully encrypted system; I think most recent Linux distributions support this. However, when you are using XEN to provide virtualization, there are situations where you might not want to encrypt your whole computer with all guest instances, but instead only encrypt one OS instance. This howto will deal with exactly this situation. It assumes that the XEN host system is already up and running. Join discussion...

http://www.howtoforge.com/xen-live-migration-of-an-lvm-based...
This guide explains how you can do a live migration of an LVM-based virtual machine (domU) from one Xen host to the other. I will use iSCSI to provide shared storage for the virtual machines in this tutorial. Both Xen hosts and the iSCSI target are running on Debian Lenny in this article. Join discussion...

Managing Multiple KVM Hosts With Enomalism2 [Ubuntu 8.10]
26 / 3
http://www.howtoforge.com/managing-multiple-kvm-hosts-with-e...
In my previous guide about how to set up Enomalism2 on Ubuntu 8.10 I concentrated on just one KVM host. This tutorial is an extension to that article in that it shows how to add further Ubuntu 8.10 KVM hosts to the setup that can then be managed from one single control panel. Join discussion...
