Installing ASSP (Anti-Spam SMTP Proxy) On Ubuntu Server 10.04 / Debian 5.0
26 / 3
http://www.howtoforge.com/installing-assp-anti-spam-smtp-pro...
This How-To document guides you through installing ASSP (Anti-Spam SMTP Proxy) on an Ubuntu 10.04 (LTS) Server or Debian 5.0 in the simplest way possible. It *may* work on later versions but I have no way of knowing how these instructions will work for you. Installing Ubuntu/Debian is beyond the scope of this document and it is assumed you already have the core Ubuntu/Debian OS with no predefined software collections installed. Join discussion...

Fight Image Spam With FuzzyOCR And SpamAssassin On Debian Lenny
22 / 7
http://www.howtoforge.com/fight-image-spam-with-fuzzyocr-and...
This tutorial describes how to scan emails for image spam with FuzzyOCR on a Debian Lenny server. FuzzyOCR is a plugin for SpamAssassin which is aimed at unsolicited bulk mail containing images as the main content carrier. Using different methods, it analyzes the content and properties of images to distinguish between normal mails (ham) and spam mails. FuzzyOCR tries to keep the system load low by scanning only mails that have not already been categorized as spam by SpamAssassin, thus avoiding unnecessary work. Join discussion...

What Is Spam?
1 / 0
http://www.seroundtable.com/archives/018428.html
Search engine wants to find the best content on the web and deliver it to their user. They have algos to determine what is the best content and most trusted. Spam tries to manipulate this. He then showed some examples of spam on the web. He showed a site guaranteeing 10,000 visitors in an hour, for $30 per month. He then shows RSS to Blog, which "steals" content from other sites and puts it on your site. He then shows Phantom Cloaker tool, it cloaks the results. Porn and Junk is not necessarily spam. Junk is a page with a little content or ad full pages - these are not spam, but they are filtered out mostly. Join discussion...

Spam Blocking And Web Filtering With The Untangle 5.3 Network Gateway
27 / 2
http://www.howtoforge.com/spam-blocking-and-web-filtering-wi...
Untangle bundles common open-source applications for blocking spam, spyware, viruses, adware and unwanted content on the network in one single Linux distribution. It can be integrated into existing networks either as a router or as a transparent bridge (directly behind the router, but before the switch that connects the client PCs with the router). The best thing about Untangle is that you do not have to reconfigure the client PCs - Untangle works out of the box. Join discussion...
