Where Were These Financial Pundits When Housing Was Booming?

I find many of these "anti-wacky mortgage" articles interesting, but the fact that they're all written in hindsight is pretty bothersome. It seems to me that the correct time to have warned people about shady mortgages would have been as the housing market was exploding and people were paying more than they could realistically afford. Too little, too late.
