http://www.helium.com/items/1354935-chemical-element-silver
One of the well known chemical elements is Silver. It is a white, lustrous transition element that is represented by the chemical symbol Ag which was derived from a Latin word "Argentum" which means silver. The name silver came from an old English or Anglo-Saxon word "seolfor" which also means silver. It has an atomic number of 47, atomic weight of 107.87 and atomic volume of 10.3 cc/mol. Silver is slightly harder than gold. It is also described as ductile and malleable metal with a melting point of 961.930C or 17610F, boiling point of 22.120C, specific gravity of 10.50 (200C) and valences of 1 and 2. In the periodic table of elements, Silver is part of period 5 with elements like Zirconium, Tin and Iodine and belongs to group 11 family with Copper, Gold and Roentgenium. http://www.helium.com/items/1342634-periodic-table-of-elemen...
Going back to my school days in college, who could forget the periodic table of elements which we were obliged to memorize just to pass eight units of Chemistry. There is no chemistry textbook, classroom or laboratory that does not have a copy of the periodic table. During our days, we have 109 known elements but nowadays, there are 118. Am I right or I already lost count? READ details at http://www.helium.com/items/1342634 Join discussion...
