I get the feeling that Somali "Warlords" are in fact the traditional leaders, men committed to Somalia, who lead Somali families and clans. In the absence of a central government these men emerge as armed, unelected leaders. Militia perhaps? These leaders are now being recognized by the government. I think it may be a good thing. It sounds like Somalia has managed to get through another attack by insurgents linked to the Council of Islamic Courts.
