Yesterday was an interesting day at our gym, the legendary Kombat Arts just west of Toronto.
I went in at 11am to help my coach train one of our super heavyweights, an Iranian kid named Ramm. I ended up sparring 4, 1 minute rounds with the big lug in boxing. He s 270 pounds, I weigh 149. Frankly, I m glad my head is still attached to my neck! He throws these monster hooks, and thankfully I possess enough speed to slip them and counter with punishing body shots, then move outside of the danger zone. It s one of those situations where if he wanted to damage me, he could, but killing your training partner is not the main aim of sparring.
