While you are reading another one of my things-wrong-with-coRank articles I have another suggestion. Could you make a just vote up and vote down option for the comments? The five choices there are just arent enough...

You need to wait for a big critical mass of users for that to happen. Maybe there's less than a thousand regular users now.
If you look at Digg back at end of 2005, you see the same thing. A lot of front page stories with 20 votes and 3 comments on. The feeling then was similar, like a ghost-town sometimes! It takes time, just wait. Hey, Shinynew! you got lots of comments here! Talking about Corank is a good subject, try some more! #12 - By RBA, 59 months, 1 week, 9 days, 14 hours ago.
I'll be writing something soon about all this in the coRank blog. I think it's important and also an interesting subject.

Yea perhaps i was not clear enough, if its (3/5) then the first number is the 'winning' one and the second number is the total number of rankings.

The "edit your comment" will come in a few weeks (timed, so you cannot come today and edit something you said yesterday). It's in the to-do list.
As for the average, since there are 5 variables now, I think it's a bit too heavy to show 5 numbers, that's why I opted for making it clickable, then after you click, you see how the rating went for all 5 options. But perhaps it's not a bad idea to show at least the # for the "winning" rating. #8 - By liquidboy, 59 months, 1 week, 10 days, 11 hours ago.
yes i believe your right, while coRank is young it will be only a couple that do most of the commenting..
But i believe that will change over time (assuming coRank grows) I wonder how digg began in terms of the rate of comments to articles in the early days. If only we could view the articles from a year ago and see what the rate of comments were per article.. #7 - By shinynew, 59 months, 1 week, 10 days, 11 hours ago.
I think I have a couple discussions/arguments with you. I have a feeling for a while it will be the few active people just talking to each other.

crap, still need the edit, also could you make it show it shows the amount next to the avg:
ex. Avg: Agree (7/10) #4 - By liquidboy, 59 months, 1 week, 10 days, 12 hours ago.
Commenting will take off as soon as someone integrates speech into text and expose the API's into the browser.
As soon as adding comments to things like this is as simple as speaking then we'll see mass commenting.. ps. were not far off, theres alot of work in this space going on including stuff im working on ;) #3 - By bhartzer, 59 months, 1 week, 10 days, 12 hours ago.
It's difficult to get people to comment--unless, of course, they think there's something "in it for them". Getting people to post or to comment has been a hurdle to overcome for a long time; not only with message boards but ever since we had BBSs years ago.

Ive tried starting conversations but to no avail, its just hard to entice people to talk.
Might need to investigate ways to entice people to comment, this topic is probably good food for an article in itself. | |
