As defined by Wikipedia, “a Mutual fund is a professionally managed type of collective investment scheme that pools money from many investors and invest it in stocks, bonds, shorter money market instruments and / or securities.” There are many others that change the wording around but all mean the same thing in that a large group of people who want to invest join together and make an investment for mutual gain or loss.
