Ransomed - $1.5 million. I wonder if the pirates might try it again? Pretty good return on a little 80 day project.

I think only off the coast of Africa piracy is in prosperity....Any other continent and the countries that are coastal would never allow anything like that!!!

Well, the Somali government presently has no navy, i.e. no way of exercising their authority in "Somali waters", and they don't seem to be prepared to authorize foreign navies to to the job for them. And con tries with navies don't seem to want to enter Somali waters unilaterally. Nice situation for pirating. Furthermore, holding a bunch of sailors hostage on a captured ship might be easier than holding a bunch of school children and teachers hostage in a "captured" school. Sure - everyone knows where you are, but if a rescue attempt is botched and the hostages die, the rescuers are held to account, not the pirates. Win, win for the pirates. Make sure the pirates don't get on board in the first place! I think there may be a story here.
