It began when the ancient civilizations tried using technologies like metal extracting from their ores, pottery making and glazes, beer and wine fermentation, making pigments for cosmetics and painting, producing medicines and perfume from plant and fruit extract, making of cheese, dying cloth, glass making and production of alloys like bronze.
