My first story here: A once top digger writes about how a group of people constantly bury news from a competitor's site, and Digg's lack of response. It's the tried and true bury-brigade tale, but at a different level: your competitors (not just the usual XYZ fanboy) burying news about your site. Could something like that happen to coRank in the future?

I wasn't sure I wanted to vote this one up. Not because I don't think it's interesting but because I'm not into talking dirty about competitors (yes, although from a different galaxy and at a very different level, I do see Digg as a site in the same space as coRank), but I'm actually a regular reader of 3monkeys (you should check their article before this one - long as a book) and it's this kind of things what led me to start writing coRank, and if only for that reason, I think it may be worth reading, so there goes my vote.

Regarding whether I think something like that could happen to coRank in the future, I think the main thing we probably need to worry here at coRank is to keep the incoming stories with some level of quality. In other words, trying to keep the trash and spam out.

But I don't see how a bury brigade could develop here, and even if it did, how could it affect my front page for instance? If a story gets 5 positive votes from my sources, and 200 negative votes all from people who are not my sources, the story is still going to make it to my front page, so the only thing a "bury brigade" could affect would be the "All Sources" page, but precisely because the emphasis is on each person's front page, even if coRank was riding amazing success, these bury attempts wouldn't really affect the usefulness of the site at a persona level I think.

Yea short answer to the question is: No. It will not affect YOUR front page.
